Jan-Paul Mowat – General Partner
Jan-Paul is a founding partner of NZEP and in this capacity is a current director of Hazardco, was previously Chairman of Solpho Holdings Limited and one of NZEP’s appointed directors for both Habit Holdings Limited and Fortlock Holdings Limited/Optic Security Group Limited. Jan-Paul is also currently an independent director of Fertility Associates Holdings Limited and Sunfert International Fertility Centre Sdn Bhd (Malaysia), and the independent chairperson of Apollo Medical Limited.
Jan-Paul was previously an investment director with ANZ Capital, the private equity business of the ANZ Bank. While at ANZ Jan-Paul was involved in a wide range of investments including leading ANZ Capital’s investments in Tegel Foods (NZ’s largest vertically integrated poultry producer), Argenta (animal pharmaceutical R&D and manufacture) and JMI Aerospace (air cargo container maintenance and logistics services).
Kory Fagan – General Partner
Kory is a founding partner of NZEP and in that capacity he is a current director of Hazardco, and was previously a director of Solpho Holdings Limited and Habit Holdings Limited. In addition, Kory was previously a director and major shareholder of Scientific Sales Limited (specialist measurement instruments provider).
Prior to forming NZEP Kory was an investment director with Direct Capital Private Equity, NZ’s largest private equity firm. During his 9 years at Direct Capital Kory led and was involved in a large number of investments including Momentum Energy (electricity retail), GFG Group (payment solutions including credit/debit card processing and mobile payments) and Geosmart Ltd (digital mapping, vehicle navigation, aerial surveying and Location Based Services provider).
Sandy Maier – General Partner
Sandy is a founding partner of NZEP and is also a director/chairman of a number of NZ businesses including Ngai Tahu Holdings, Fronde, Coretex and Pathfinder Asset Management.
Sandy is well known in the NZ business community and has spent the last 35 years working with over 400 different companies in markets as diverse as the United States, Latin America, Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
Raquel Withers – Finance Manager
Raquel joined NZEP in 2019 and looks after our finance back office. Raquel has a long history of finance roles in industries as diverse as Advertising/Marketing and Mortgage/Property Services through to Telecommunications and Manufacturing.
Raquel has previously held roles at Blackfoot NZ, Below The Line, Mortgage Express, Vodafone NZ and TVF (UK) Plc to name a few and holds a Bachelor of Business Studies from Massey University.
Rob Campbell – Investment Committee
Rob has over 30 years’ experience in investment management and corporate governance. Rob is currently Chair of Sky City, Summerset Group Holdings Limited (NZ), Tourism Holdings and WEL Networks / UFF, and a director of Precinct Properties.
Rob is also a director of a number of substantial private companies based in Australia and New Zealand alongside his roles as a director of or advisor to various hedge and private equity funds in a number of countries. Rob trained as an economist and has worked in a variety of capital market advisory and governance roles over a long period.
Annabel Cotton – Investment Committee
Annabel has an extensive background in equity markets, investor relations and governance, having advised many of New Zealand’s leading listed companies on a wide variety of matters in these areas over the past 20 years. Annabel’s current appointments include: Managing Director of Merlin Consulting, an investor relations consultancy; director and Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee at Waikato Regional Airport and Trust Investments Management; Chair of Hamilton & Waikato Tourism and trustee of several large charitable trusts.
Previous appointments include directorships and audit committee membership of a large SOE, the External Reporting Board (XRB), the Securities Commission and several small NZX listed companies together with holding an appointment as Commissioner for Financial Advisers. Annabel is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors, the Institute of Finance Professionals New Zealand, the Australasian Investor Relations Association and Chartered Accountants Australia New Zealand
